Born on July 21, 1962, in Wilson, North Carolina, Jentezen Franklin was raised in a devout Christian family. Initially pursuing a musical career as a saxophonist, he felt a divine calling to ministry and transitioned into evangelism. In 1989, following the passing of Free Chapel’s senior pastor, Roy Wellborn, Franklin was appointed as the new senior pastor. Under his leadership, the church has experienced significant growth, expanding to multiple campuses across the Southern United States.

Throughout his ministry, Pastor Franklin has emphasized the importance of spiritual disciplines, particularly fasting. His book, “Fasting: Opening the Door to a Deeper, More Intimate, More Powerful Relationship with God,” has inspired many to incorporate fasting into their spiritual practices. In December 2020, Pastor Franklin tested positive for COVID-19 after exposure to an infected associate. At that time, he experienced only mild symptoms and adhered to medical guidance for recovery. There have been no subsequent reports indicating any severe health issues or complications arising from this diagnosis.

As of the latest available information, Pastor Jentezen Franklin remains active in his pastoral duties and continues to influence many through his teachings and writings. Any claims regarding his death are unsubstantiated and should be regarded with skepticism unless confirmed by reliable sources.
